Baylor, A. L. & Chang, S. (2002). Pedagogical agents as scaffolds: The role of feedback timing, number of agents, and adaptive feedback. Proceedings of 5th International Conference of the Learning Sciences, Seattle, WA, ISLS.
Publication year: 2002

This exploratory experimental study explored the role of feedback with animated pedagogical agents according to three factors: 1) timing (summative vs. just-in-time); 2) number of agents (1 or 2); and, adaptivity (adaptive, non-adaptive). Results are discussed by type of interaction using the theoretical framework of cognitive load theory.
